Site remediation normally refers to works on existing industrial sites where buildings have or will be demolished which will leave the concrete floor slabs, services yards , car parks and all foundations in place.

The remediation is to remove all these materials and to process them on site by means of crushing and screening for reuse within the works.

Excavators fitted with hydraulic breakers are used to break up the surface concrete and tarmac. The materials will be excavated and taken to areas of the site where they will be stockpiled for crushing and screening. The same process will be applied to all buried foundations uncovered beneath the removed slabs.

A cut and fill earthworks operation normally follows with the site formed to the new levels for the replacement buildings.
The concrete and tarmac will be processed to a sizing detailed in the works specification and this processed material will be used as a capping layer to the new construction.

Remediation works allow for the reuse of materials on site which prevents costly disposal of materials off site to landfill and the import of stone materials from quarries or other sources.

Braithwaite Excavations have invested heavily in remediation equipment for the redevelopment of brown field sites.

EARTHWORKS PHILOSOPHY – SUSTAINABILITY

“It is the stated aim of this company to undertake works where the majority of site won materials can be either reused directly or can be processed by on site methods to allow their incorporation within the works.”
