Our Services
Braithwaite Excavations have been undertaking major earthwork projects for over 40 years and have a proven track record for delivering high quality works on time and to budget. This has allowed us to develop close relationships with our Clients and to undertake repeat work on their projects for many years.
Our works are managed by experienced and dedicated staff who control our sites to ensure the works are progresses to programme and specification.
Our drivers and operators are all trained in line with industry standards.
The plant fleet is modern and made up from Caterpillar and Volvo.
Excavations

All of our projects are executed using GPS machine control technology. Our engineers create detailed earthwork models that are uploaded to the machines, enabling precise machine guidance. This significantly boosts site productivity and ensures higher quality results.
The 3D modeling also allows us to deliver optimal earthwork solutions for our clients by adjusting site levels to achieve balanced earthworks. This approach minimizes material movement on and off-site, providing the most cost-effective solution for the project.
Site Remediation

Excavators fitted with hydraulic breakers are used to break up the surface concrete and tarmac. The materials will be excavated and taken to areas of the site where they will be stockpiled for crushing and screening. The same process will be applied to all buried foundations uncovered beneath the removed slabs.
A cut and fill earthworks operation normally follows with the site formed to the new levels for the replacement buildings.
The concrete and tarmac will be processed to a sizing detailed in the works specification and this processed material will be used as a capping layer to the new construction.
Remediation works allow for the reuse of materials on site which prevents costly disposal of materials off site to landfill and the import of stone materials from quarries or other sources.
Braithwaite Excavations have invested heavily in remediation equipment for the redevelopment of brown field sites.
Ground Improvement

Lime modification dries out overly wet materials, allowing them to be used in earthworks that would otherwise require landfill disposal. Cement modification strengthens site soils by incorporating cement, reducing the need for imported stone and enhancing the reuse of on-site materials.
Rapid impact compaction is used on poorly consolidated sites, such as backfilled ash pits, to prepare the ground for construction, offering a more cost-effective alternative to piling. Detailed site investigations are essential to assess feasibility and provide accurate cost estimates, often leading to significant savings.
We will carry out detailed site investigations ensure we choose the best ground improvement method, helping clients save costs and maximize efficiency
Inert Tipping

Braithwaite Excavations operates fully permitted inert tipping facilities across West and South Yorkshire, with a modern fleet of tipper wagons for the disposal of inert materials to our facilities and the removal of contaminated materials to specialist facilities in Yorkshire and the Midlands.
Our tipping service covers the safe disposal of inert waste materials, while our inert collection and disposal service ensures materials are removed and managed responsibly. We also offer hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal, ensuring compliance with regulations for all waste types. Additionally, we provide on-site remediation and waste testing to ensure materials are safely processed and meet the necessary standards.
Heavy Haulage

Braithwaite Excavations owns and operates low loader tractor units and trailers, enabling us to transport plant equipment to sites across the country and handle heavy plant haulage for other contractors. Our fleet includes plant ranging from 18-tonne machines to a large 53-tonne crusher.
Plant moves are coordinated through the ESDAL system, where approved routes are assigned to our low loader drivers. We also operate a fleet of MAN tipper wagons from our base in Barnsley, servicing local jobs for aggregates and spoil removal.
Additionally, we own two inert restoration sites in West Yorkshire, where inert spoil from local sites is deposited. We can offer disposal services for other contractors on a cart and tip basis, provided materials are suitable for our restoration sites.
Sustainable Earthworks
"It is the stated aim of this company to undertake works where the majority of site won materials can be either reused directly or can be processed by on site methods to allow their incorporation within the works."
